Hello,
I am having a problem connecting to SQL server 2000 through enterprise manager. Whenever i try to look at a table, view or DTS package I get the message...
"The query cannot be executed because some files are either missing or not registered. Run setup again to make sure the required files are registered."
I have tried to re-register, unregister and re-register.
I have tried to create a new instance of SQL server and attach the Data files to this.
I have tried to Re-install client tools.
The only option I am left with is totally removing SQL server and re-installing then restoring the Databases from a backup tape...
I just wanted to know if anyone has anyother ideas before i go ahead and do this.

have you tried checking the error on microsoft tech net, they dont always mean what they say. have had lot of success in the past

Filegroup recommendation
Are there any general recommendations concerning filegroups? My personal point of view is to place large tables in their own filegroups and group smaller, more static, tables in a single filegroup. Is it also good practice to group small and large index in two separate filegroups or should each large index have their own filegroup? filgroup the table is,
Which catalog view/DM /SP can give the same info "on which filegroup my
table is"?Check out the following:
sys.indexes has a column data_space_id.
sys.filegroups also has that column.

File Rotation
Hi,
I currently have a job setup to export a view from a MS
SQL 2000 database to a CSV file on a network drive..
Let's say the filename is: filename.csv
The job runs every 10minutes, and I need it to save to
different file names for 7 days, then start back..
day 1: filename1.csv ..10minutes later would be
filename2.csv etc...
After 7 days it would go back to filename1.csv..
I hope I'm being clear here but I'm sure someone gets the
idea.. anyone has a tip?Guillaume
How about using the day of the week as part of the
filename and overwriting if the file name exists. ie
filename-mon.csv, filename-tue.csv etc or you could just
set up a small (one row, one column) table on your
database where you keep a number or some other identifier
to append to the file name. If you start with '1' as your
initial value, add 1 each day and when it gets to 8 reset
to 1. Filename1.csv, filename2.csv etc
